Ate refried beans last night, so that might have had something to do with it.

As always, Gaijins are so sensitive with earthquakes.
We Japanese never mind small scale ones like this.

Considering the rescue effort after Kobe, you never mind the big ones either. :p

Bullshit. My Japanese staff were more nervous than me during the earthquake.

yeah, Take, those of us from SoCal (and NoCal for that matter) know nothing about earthquakes. We just know that it's getting close to "loot the conbini time". Did you get your head stuck further up your ass diving under your desk this morning?

Time for us Californians to stand up for our honor. The Japanese know little of big quakes, compared to us. Perhaps this is a topic for a different thread, but I'll throw down the gantlet: what is the biggest quake you personally experienced? I'll start:

5.9, The 1987 Whittier Narrows Quake, I lived about 5 miles from the epicenter.

I'd list the 1983 Coalinga Quake (6.5) but I was too far away for it to count.

Yeah, I noticed you said the quake was in Arizona and you felt it in LA, before you edited it out. There has never been an 7.9 earthquake in the continental US in your lifetime. The closest contender is the Great San Francisco Quake of 1908, it was only a 7.8.

STFU.

Yup, go fuck yourself. be my guest. It was in 1999 and fine, it was not 7.9 but it was 7.1. It was the Hector Mine earthquake. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hector_Mine

Even the 1906 SF earthquake some sources say it was a 8.3 while others say 7.8. which you believe? Same here. It was very early in the morning and the radio said it was a 7.9 somewhere far and a train had derailed in Arizona. It was my first earthquake and in a foreign location. It had shaken really bad and I was on the 20th floor of a hotel. Not very pleasant. So yeah, sorry if I don't have my facts right down to the fucking longitude/latitude shit. Fuck yourself Chukie.

The Richter Scale is logarithmic, so your 7.1 quake was about 1/10th of the magnitude of your claim of 7.9. And Barstow is 100 miles from LA. The official USGS Intensity Map says it was barely felt in LA, effectively somewhere between a 2.0 and a 3.0. But I'm sure you ran out your door, screaming like a little girl.

You're disqualified. For the purposes of this little game, I'll restrict entries to a reasonable radius from the epicenter, like say 25 or 50 miles. Otherwise we'll get idiots like you who claimed they felt the 1964 Alaska 9.2 quake from Florida.

Help me here. I just woke up and my mind is still kinda...y'know. Above, are you quoting something from your citation, Jack (too sleepy to go check myself)? Or are you claiming to have lived through the 1906 SF Quake? or just Hector Mine?

I am sure it was more jarring for our friends in Fukushima & Ibaraki prefectures. Good morning!!

That's what I thought it was, too.
It rumbled for a bit long and I realized it must have been an earthquake when I checked my skids and they were dry.

I completely forgot that there was an earthquake this morning. I remember (now) laying there thinking, "Ok, earthquake, but nothing serious is happening, and I'm too damn tired to get up and do the epicenter/mag check..still shaking a little, or is that just my imagination? Fuck, I gotta go piss."

Strange, I gotta go take a piss now....cosmic connection.

Weird, Saturday night I had a dream about a volcano erupting near Tokyo.

Although in my dream, the volcano was on the east side and the lava came just to the outskirts of Kita Senju.
I have a blog. Last update: August 18, 2013.
