Mariners Player wanted to knock out Ichiro

Interesting article on ESPN right now. Can't say I'm very surprised. Ichiro didn't seem to upset that the team completely sucked, as long as he got his hits and looked cool in the outfield. I would like to know which player it was. Sexton perhaps? Any ideas?

How can you knock someone out when you can't land a hit to save your life? Ichiro's got nothing to worry about.

I wonder if this came at about the same time that a Seattle newspaper writer stated that the Mariners would be better off trading Ichiro to the Yankees or Red Sox at this time and get some young guys back in return. It seems he is a kind of cancer in the locker room.

This could well be a throw off of somebody reacting to the Johjima problem mentioned in posts elsewhere herein.

There is alot of dissention over him, which really isn't Johjima's fault. If you got it, you got it, if you don't shoga nai. Someone may have construed those problems to be Ichiro.

It has been pointed out in not only U.S but Japan that Ichiro lacks cooperation and leadership. Some team members are jealous of and cannot forgive his personal success despite team's slump. But somebody who cant accomplish some results should not say like that.
And if Ichiro fucks off from Mariners, Mariners will be a lump of shit.
Personally I wanted Ichiro to transfer RedSox from the begining. If so, he must had gotten more famous than the present (now Ichiro is no more than a local star in Seatle).

As someone commenting on the article,
Don't worry Ichiro, no one on that team can hit so you're probally safe.
The whole team sucked ass shmegma, so I really think he had nothing to worry about..

As far as leadership? One who expects a Japanese to lead, is destined to follow.. Remember that. ;)

You nailed it Takechanpoo!
Wasn't Ichiro on the team that won an American League record 116 wins? Yes he was. Ichiro also set the American League singles record during that season. I suspect this is the real reason Ichiro is getting the negative press:
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080921&content_id=3521636&vkey=news_sea&fext=.jsp
The Mariners' player payroll is a franchise-record $118 million this season, which would make Seattle the first Major League franchise to have a triple-digit player payroll and reach triple digits in losses in the same season.
I mean, getting rid of Ichiro immediately solves the payroll problem right?

Getting rid of Johjima's 34 or 37(?) million dollar three year contract wouldn't hurt them. But he's getting hot in the last couple of games. Gotta couple of hits to bring him up to .225.

Not completely. The Mariners are on the hook for Ichi's salary of a cool $17,000,000. However if you look at the salary list below, you will see of Mariner "employees" 2 thru 6, they are paying a ton of dough. And out of this bunch, all but one can be considered dead-beats. An argument can be made for Beltre. He is a great defensive player and he does hit "OK". Not great, but OK. All of these guys are signed for 2009!

2. Adrian Beltre$13,400,000
3. Jarrod Washburn9,850,000
4. Miguel Batista9,500,000
5. Carlos Silva8,250,000
6. Erik Bedard7,000,000

The cause of the M's situation is the fired Bill Bavasi. He has absolutely no baseball sense and signed most of the M's current roster along with Sexson, Wilkerson and Vidro all "former" Mariners now. Bavasi is now in Cincinnati screwing up the Reds.

And this does not even touch on employee #7, Mr. Johjima, who is pulling down $6,383,333 big ones. Johjima is batting all of .223 this year. Yikes! And the M's signed him to a 3-year extension this season at the behest of the Japanese ownership, as the story goes. Reports have it that some of the M's pitchers do not like to throw to him.

Ichiro gets on base, does make good plays in the outfield (good plays, not highlight reel plays) and he brings in thousands of Japanese baseball fans. Trading him might be a consideration, but the loss of Ichiro would be a big PR hit for the M's who are VERY sensitive to public opinion. Don't forget the big Lesbian Kiss brewhaha in June (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,363427,00.html).
Bit of a limited market to Ichi too at $17 mil per year.

The Mariners have a lot of work to do before they are competitive again.:(

Take, do you follow MLB? Know anything about it? The Mariners need to win 2 of 3 against the A's this weekend just to reach 60 wins, have clinched the worst record in the AL (even worse than the Orioles), and are battling the Washington Nationals for the worst record in the majors. In other words, with Ichiro the Mariners are a lump of shit.

I've never understood this point of view. He needs to be more famous in America? Why, exactly? He's already quite well known in Japan, and if you're a Japanese nationalist, then who the fuck cares how many people internationally know him?

Also, the notion that he's just a local Seattle star is pretty fucking stupid. Yeah... no one else in America knows who Ichiro is, right?? Jesus fucking christ. If that's what you think, then why is this story all over the American media?? :herring:

Dumbass....
