Finally something I hate other than gaijins

Postby Jack » Fri Dec 05, 2008 10:47 pm

Ok, I cracked last night when I went home for dinner. My wife prepares dinner because I work and she doesn't but that's not the point of this post. The point is, I can't handle the smell of fish or seafood anymore ALL the fuckin time in my house. Everytime she is preparing something either for us or for the kids, there is always somekind of fucking seafood. If it's not seafood, its nori or kelp or whatever seaweed they pick out from the sea.

I HAVE FUCKIN HAD IT. NO MORE FUKING SEAFOOD. I WANT "CHUNK" MEAT. :-)

I feel much better now. Thank you.

Seriously, I know how you feel. I can't stand the fish smell either. Give me beef, pork or chicken!

Strong seafood smells bother me too. If your wife adds a bit of lemon when frying or grilling it will help somewhat but it isn't possible to get rid of it totally. If she is grilling she should put lemon in the water that sits below the fish. If frying then just sprinkle lemon onto the fish and into the frying pan.

You get the smelly seafood for dinner because wifey is getting a lot of "chunk meat" while you're at work.:p

WHA??????? You never want to enter my kitchen, I use leftover beef fat for frying almost everyday... lard on off days. Natural rendered oils from pork or beef fat is more healthy than canola oil and has about the same burning point temp. Olive oil is the most healthy oil but it burns at a very low temp. Corn oil is slightly better than canola but it still is very bad for your heart.

Since we both currently seem to be subscribing to the same food belief system, (although I wouldn't go as far as rendered beef fat), Maybe you should check out what they're saying about coconut oil now. A few examples here and here. You can google for lots more.

And although neither of us was fat by a long shot, we both lost a few pounds when we switched over from canola oil. If you want to try it out, be sure to get virgin or cold-pressed - otherwise, it could smell like charred wood.

BTW, really fresh fish doesn't smell, even without lemon, but it is as pricy as all hell. Maybe someone's been spending too much on expensive breakfasts (or whatever...) and being a cheapskate with wifey's food allowance? Or maybe she's just trying to silently communicate something...

Proof bitch...bring the proof..shit bitch, you can't even post a picture of your caviar and "sham"pagne together as proof, can you.....you wouldn't want anyone to consider you a liar, would you? You are being called out (again).....excuse time...c'mon...make a nice tidy excuse.....

Jack, you're quite the anomaly. I can't say I know the behavior of every well-to-do person, but I have had the fortune of befriending a few well-off people, including CEO's and VP's of very large corporations, movie directors, actors, and even a U.S. senator. I must say, none of them spend nearly as much time as you posting on a message board that collectively thinks them a twat. Don't you have better things to do with all your wealth and free time?

I've also never met a rich person who would even consider bragging about eating caviar...not since the 80's at least. In fact, from what I've noticed, the wealthier you are the more passe (and completely unnecessary) it is to brag about caviar and champagne. Honestly, how wealthy can you be if you still get excited about salted fish eggs.

So, as convincing us of your tremendous wealth seems to be fairly high up on your list of priorities (i.e. you can't get through a complete fucking sentence without referencing it and the whores that it supposedly buys you), why don't you post a statement of your income for us to see? Then you could just add it to your signature and forgo the obligatory bullshit that accompanies every single one of your posts.

See? You wouldn't know it because YOU can't buy the really fresh fish but we do. And I have news for you: it smells when you cook it.

And it's not just fish that emits seafood odor that I dislike more than gaijins. It's dried bonito especially when making dashi, it's kelp, it's niboshi (dried fish), it's the powdered stuff that you sprinkle on rice, its scallops it's all sorts of things. I don't hate these things and will eat them but my initial point for those with the brains of a two year old, was that Japanese cuisine always seem to include somekind of fish or seafood-derived ingredients, the odor of which, is now driving mer isane. Now, do I need to draw a picture so you can understand?

I dont like people who complain about Japan either - I love it. But I also like gaijins. So I guess my other question would be `why come to this board if you hate it and its inhabitants?`

I guess your house could smell like Kim Chee. How would that be? Don't say fine, because after of week of Kim Chee aroma you'd move out.

Do you communicate with your wife? Why don't you mention it to her. She probably thinks you like Saba Yaki.

If you're so wealthy why don't you install a well-ventilated kitchen, surely a remodel on that order would be of no great consequence to someone of your means. If your comfort and sanity are at risk here I would think you would spare no expense. Just have caviar once a week instead of daily and you'd save enough in a year to pay for the new kitchen one would think.

Sounds like somebody is tired of living in Japan and should seriously consider relocating to Kansas. Hard to get fresh fish there.

edit: strange.. the topic of this thread was Jack bitching about the smell of seafood, then he turns around and brags about the seafood he had for breakfast. :p

Surely you have a digital camera or one on your cell phone. The instructions for uploading photos onto FG are relatively simple.

and by the way, I had the same breakfast I have every day.
500 mL boring plain yogurt, with two bananas (now that I can buy them again) and about a third of a pineapple. I should post the pix of my endoscopy...man, my duodenum looks sexy. Doc wouldn't give me a video copy of the colonoscopy...but I did sign her breasts after she pulled the harpoon out of my ass.
