Mulboyne wrote:Well, I now have one. I'd like to tell you how I went through the ekinet link and took delivery at a nearby JR station but, in reality, I just stumbled across them on sale in the Shinjuku Tokyu Hands. It's an older version, so it doesn't have the Third Man theme from Ebisu station or the Tetsuwan Atomu theme from Takadonababa as the web site advertises.
What is more problematic for overseas use is that it's a 電]Japan Standard Time Project[/URL] transmitters in Fukushima and Kyushu. At least, it is supposed to. I've tried to start it three times so far and it always sets itself 10 minutes slow. Quite in order for the British railway system but inappropriate for the punctual Yamanote line. I may be doing something wrong but I suspect I'll be trekking back to Tokyu Hands in the next few days.
Bottom line is that you can't use this clock overseas except to listen to the station chimes. At 7,980 yen, it's far too expensive but is not a bad gimmick gift for someone who has just got permanent residence.
