Foreign Ministry Appoints Ambassadors Of Cute

[floatl]Image[/floatl]Continuing their attempts to develop Japan's soft power and promote pop culture overseas, the Foreign Ministry this week announced the appointment of three "Ambassadors for Kawaii". Model Misako Aoki, singer Yu Kimura and actress Shizuka Fujioka will attend events abroad as representatives of the government. The Ministry stepped up its efforts in this area after Taro Aso became Prime Minister because he publicly advocated such a policy. As the support rate for his cabinet has plummeted, however, some within the ministry are wondering whether they should be easing back.

Hoping to flex its "soft power" diplomatic muscle and enhance Japan's image as a hip destination, the Foreign Ministry has appointed three charismatic figures in youth fashion as "ambassadors" to espouse the latest trends in Japanese pop culture. The three, left to right, are "Lolita fashion" model Misako Aoki, musician and Harajuku fashion scene leader Yu Kimura and actress and school uniform fashion adviser Shizuka Fujioka. Each will serve for a year as a cultural envoy at events and projects overseas. Dubbed "Trend Communicators," they will attend their first event in Bangkok in March.

Waitaminit' impostor... I'm the real French here, I haz priority on these kind of things and much more experience than any of y'all.

But what are those 3 cadavers on the picture ? and what are these three going to do that the dancers on gwen stefani's 'harajuku lovers' tour didn't do?

no one outside of japan knows who these three are, nor will they care. if the ministry is going to send out some faces that are unknown, they should at least be cute. aoki-chan looks like a frog. and i hardly think any school that imposes a uniform is going to be quick to welcome the 'school uniform advisor' into their walls...they might as well send the paedo skirt chasing old pervs in with her to teach the etiquette of how to successfully extract gucci handbags from the old guys once they get their skirts short enough.

that vapid bucktooth webcam staring troll, marichan, would probably get more result with foreigners than these three combined.

Let's remember something...we gaijin are usually attracted to a different type of J-female than the locals. Nevertheless, each country on earth has a few otaku that will welcome the three not-as-cute-as-the-government-thinks-they-are chicklets with open otaku arms. Hopefully, they will start off their "Kawaii Tour" in Somalia.
