Immigration Raids On Roppongi Hostess Clubs

[floatr][/floatr]This video news report (Japanese) concerns a series of raids on foreign hostess clubs in Roppongi. It was a large-scale effort covering a total of nine clubs and involved 220 police and immigration officials. So far, the total number arrested for immigration offences is 6. The clip clearly shows the faces of two of the girls while blurring out everybody else. At one point it looks almost like the FNN cameraman has joined them in the back of the van because he gets pretty close. Police say they acted on a tip that the clubs were employing visa overstayers.

I come from a city where they practice "community policing". The locals keep an eye open for "criminals" and 90% of the beat cops in grew up in that neighborhood. Crime is a matter of perspective, if you grew up in that neighborhood and know everyone you can get away with a lot more. I'm sure that the same goes for most of the world.
