Jet Li renounced his American citizenship to become Singaporean. Singapore, like Japan, doesn't generally recognize dual citizenship so it seems more likely that he was motivated by wanting a Singaporean passport rather than wanting to ditch his US one. Gong Li is also Singaporean which suggests there's something attractive about the place for wealthy Chinese.

Now his dumb ass has to register in the civil defense force which has an open draft policy for all provocations of war and natural disaster.

When flying Sing Air a couple weeks ago LAX-NAR-LAX, there were advertisements for a Condo property noting a lack of inheritance and other taxes in Sing....

As for putting people in jail for not paying their taxes.....WTF? Sounds a lot like debtors prisons to me....I thought we were supposed to have gotten rid of those...

I'm screwed either way. My pension will come from the U.S. govt....they're getting their dirty hands on my money one way or another.....

You can go to prison for almost anything in SG. There are 4 basic punishments in SG. 1) Large fine. 2) Caning 3) Large prison sentence 4) death by hanging (this one is particularly quick if they catch you with a bag of weed in the airport).

Developed nation; good hospitals; close to China/HK; run by wealthy Chinese; good Chinese food; clean; safe; low income tax.

The American Expatriation Guide

Postby leitmotiv » Thu May 06, 2010 12:00 am

http://www.zerohedge.com/article/american-expatriation-guide

"For Americans, reliable information about how to exercise the right of expatriation is very difficult to find without incurring substantial costs. Many high net worth individuals never consider it simply because the subject seems so mysterious and intimidating. Yet freeing yourself from the global U.S. tax net provides the highest guaranteed return on capital that any American will ever know. The purpose of this guide is to demystify expatriation, highlight its many benefits, and provide a roadmap to follow should Americans choose to exercise the right. I hope it will be an invaluable resource to your readers. I am the sole author of the guide, and it is my desire to remain anonymous. As I note in the document, I give unrestricted, royalty- free permission to any and all parties to reproduce, publish and distribute this guide, in whole or in part, on any form of media in all territories throughout the world."
