[/floatl]There's a new low-cost alternative limousine bus service operating out of Narita from today. A company called Charter Bus has started the Super Shuttle which will take you from the airport to Ueno & Asakusa for 1,000 yen. All booking has to be done online by credit card but there is an English hotline number (+81-3-3599-6834) which is open for inquiries and bookings from 9:15 am to 5:30pm Japan time. It's not as convenient as other options. For a start, it only goes from Narita Terminal 2 so you'll have to take the free airport shuttle bus if you are arriving or departing from Terminal 1. There are only 4 buses scheduled a day and the route is expected to take almost two hours. Also, reservations are essential - you won't be allowed to board even if there are empty seats available on the bus. That's obviously not especially useful for inbound passengers. If you do make a reservation but find your flight is delayed, then you'll lose your money if you miss the bus - tickets are not transferable or refundable. Nevertheless, it's 1,000 yen which undercuts the cheapest Keisei Line rail ticket between Ueno and Narita. Click on the link above for more details in English.
