S.Korea to provide boric acid to Japan

The South Korean government says it will provide Japan with boric acid to help avoid criticality at the quake-damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

South Korea's Ministry of Knowledge Economy said on Wednesday that it has decided to provide 53 tons of boric acid, following the request made by Japan.

That amount would include almost all the substance available in South Korea, excepting a quantity for domestic use.

South Korea will send one kilogram of sample boric acid to Japan on Wednesday, to check if the South Korea variety can also be used at the Japanese power plant.

I believe you're correct. The gas turbines are being provided to make up for the lack of power generation resulting from the crippled nuclear reactors.

U.S. shows growing alarm over Japan nuclear crisis

you're not alone with that. i've got inner ear problems anyway, but now 2 days after leaving japan, i still have vertigo going on. was sure the ground was moving in seoul and even now back in denmark. got some motion sickness meds from chemist yesterday, but it's not helped at all.

I couldn't see any way that gas-turbine generators that would fit on a cargo plane would be able to supplement city power requirements.

Yeah, I have a friend with a house at an odd angle in Shin Urayasu... Lots of liquefaction changes in the level of the ground. It's quite a mess.

My house in Osaka isn't on reclaimed land but the land is definitely softer than I would like. I hope to move within the next couple of years and wherever I end up building it will be on top of bedrock...
