Over the years in Japan I have noticed that Nihonjin are eager to point out on any occasion that allows for it, how honest their fellow Japanese are. At the same time I have had the good fortune to know a great many fucked gaijin living in Japan, most of whom worked in the ESL business for lack of any better opportunity.
As often as I have heard Nihonjin boasting about Nihonjin honesty, I simultaneously have heard how often the labor laws are violated, benefits are denied, unemployment insurance denied and final paychecks are withheld from my fellow fucked gaijin all in violation of labor laws on the books. Now having been the victim of this myself on many more occasions than I would care to have experienced, I find myself wondering if violating labor laws doesn't count against the perception that Nihonjin are honest?
Is it just fucked me or could there be something like wishful thinking going on or even heaven forfade, denial, in the minds of Nihonjin boasting about Nihonjin honesty OR am I in need of a serious setting straight. If so have at it please.
