Postby Taro Toporific » Mon Oct 13, 2003 4:30 pm

Image Adequate emergency care could have saved 40 percent of patients' lives The Japan Times: Oct. 12, 2003
About 40 percent of the people who died at emergency medical centers across Japan could have been saved if they had received adequate emergency care, according to a recent study by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.

{{Comparing apples-to-mikan, the rate-of-survival in the ER in North America is much greater than 98%}}

That is absolutely scandalous. Families should be suing the hospitals for such neglect. :evil:

Thats not suprissing. Did you know that a Japanese parmedic, on arrival at a scene has to phone a doctor in a nearby hospital to get permission (something that could take 10mins) before heart triage or any other procedure that even many Western Joe-public are trained to carry out. :evil:

Even at a car accident attending police will just watch :roll: - in the UK, at least they will help the paramedics......

Rule #2 - If you feel yourself becoming ill, or think you may be headed for an accident, remember Rule #1.

Umm.. Sorry I'm not that good at 'rithmatic' (scary numbers to be sure) but just wondering what the true Jpn/U.S comparative might be..?!? For example the ER "rate-of-survival" in the U.S is 98% then what is it in Jpn, or if 40% of ER "deaths" in Jpn were preventable, then is there a stat. for that in the U.S..?!?

Taro.. is that what you meant by comparing apples-to-mikan..?!?
