'An Fran Bellege' is what?

Postby Taro Toporific » Tue Aug 06, 2013 7:51 pm

A friend at a wedding factory called, 'An Fran Bellege', is wondering how that name means "lover of angels" = アン フラン ベルジュ = 天使の恋人 = "an fran bellege".
Anybody have an idea of the Japanese logic?

'An Fran Bellege' could be a synthetic name like "Häagen-Dazs" but there has to be more to it than bad spelling.

I was thinking along the lines of:

an = "angel"
fran = "frenchyness"
belle = "a beauty"
~lege = ~lage = "made of something"

My guess is that it is no more French than I. Y. Yunioshiis Japanese. Representative enough for the target market, but with high WTF factor in the market it is pretending to represent.

That sounds perfectly apt!

It also goes some way to explain why French is such a nasal language.

And to demonstrate that we are an equal opportunity "puerilely point at Johnny Foreigner and laugh" site, I seize this chance to post some scheisse fausting schplitzing:
