I think maybe the world is just letting that that gasp of "Finally! Some decided to think globally and act locally." Unfortunately, the lad's execution leaves a lot to be desired. Personally, if it were me who had the gumption to finally put an end to the AKB reign of pop terror, I would have gone in with a http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DO1OMK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?tag=scale-t-2-ag-1-20.
Japan Today's moderators are retarded fuckwits. Especially the one that was moderating the morning of 12/31/18--what a true cunt.

How dare you compare him killing innocents to this Japanese guy who was gunningsawing for annoying and not so innocent AKB members.

Seriously. Relatively minor injuries, and this is world news?
WTF is going on?

It is a good sign, Hammer: the world is relatively calm. If there was anything really important happening in the world, this wouldn't get reported.

(I once read a neat summary of the four elements which make something newsworthy. Sadly, for all my searching I can no longer find it, so I am paraphrasing but it went something like this:

1. It involves rich people or famous people.
2. It involves a rich country.
3. It can be explained simply, especially if you can blame someone.
4. It is tragic.

This one ticks all the boxes. It is even better than a royal wedding!)

Dunno if you guys noticed, but all in the US news now is this guy who killed 6 people because he was still a virgin at 22.

He ticks all boxes:

1. Spoiled brat of rich parents (dad is film maker).
2. US is still considered a rich country (kind of).
3. Easy to explain, and he blamed all womenhood for not wanting to fuck with him.
4. Yep, 6 young people died, very tragic.

He was in the same mind set as the Japanese guy, but his legal ownership of 3 guns made it a deadlier combination.

Having gun legals and prostitution illegal is not the best combo...

Cops Demand End To AKB48 Handshaking Events
Sankaku Complex | 2014/05/26 | NSFW banner ads
...
police have told AKB48’s management they must improve security starting by putting a stop to their infamous handshaking events, widely believed to be the only thing keeping the group on top of the charts…
Akihabara police (in whose jurisdiction lies both AKB48′s original venue and the company who manages the group) have demanded they take immediate steps to improve security.
In addition to the pathetically rudimentary measure of actually searching attendees for concealed saws, police want the events to increase the distance between the stage and seating so as to avoid any wayward otaku getting onto the stage.
Most notably they want handshaking and “high-touches” banned at AKB48 events throughout the country.
AKB’s management have so far said they will “consider” implementing the police security measures...more...

More wasei Eigo? Donmai Donmai, without these events their sales will drop....and if they keep them, more nuts will come out of the woodwork. (where we'll see more J-cops taking measurements and using words like "regrettable" while they pull the worlds worst "I told you so.")

Yeah, I googled it after SJ mentioned it. Is that some sort of borked English from the UK/AUS or another completely fucked case of Japanese throwing two foreign words together for complete confusion?

A high five, linguisticly morphed, not gesturally morphed.

This is all I needed to see "ハイタッチは専ら日本語で使用される和製英語"

But this is pretty funny:

和製英語は無学に由来する外国語の誤用・濫用であって、本来あるべきでない病理的現象であるとの見方がある。しかし、和製英語は英語語彙ではなく、日本語の語彙である。従って英語と語形や意味が異なっているのは不思議なことではなく、またそれを組み合わせて新しく造語することは人間の言語創造力として当然のことであり、外国人にはわからなくてもよいという考え方もある。しかし英作文の際にも、英語とは違うことを知らずに使用してしまうために問題となる。

At least my examples are recognised as English words in a dictionary (and I even picked one of your dictionaries).

Somewhere, someone is saying "do they think these words are Japanese? Why is their language so debased that it has to incorrectly incorporate elements from ours? Do they think it is cool or something? And then the less enlightened of them who think it is standard Japanese try to use it in the native Japanese environment!! That is completely fucked. Don't they know it will lead to confusion?"

In English, at least the borrowed J-words have the same meanings (despite the fucked spelling and/or pronunciation) It takes some real effort to ignore all the movies and shit where they say "High Five!" and come up with "High Tacchi!"

But of course, bukkake means the same wherever it is used.

Futon's another one that changed meaning.
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
