Anyhow, as Take would say, time to throw in with the land of kimchee. Replacement Samsung drive is on it's way.

Apparently it only has a 1 year warranty and it's been just slightly over a year so fucked there. Nothing but OS on it so other than the hassle of re-installing/registering win8, I'm not losing much besides some time and replacement money but still, FUCK YOU TOSHIBA!

Try to update the firmware of the drive...
You'd be amazed by what the bugs in the SMART error control can do to a perfectly fine drive...

yanpa wrote:Yup, it crapped out completely and I gave up on it... Until I decided to set up a server for testing stuff and gave it a whirl... it worked fine... until a few days ago when it got very hot then it conked out with exactly the same issue... so I moved it out of the disk mount where it was sandwiched between two hot-running HDs and put it on the floor of the case... been running fine since then.
So yeah, I guess that particular device doesn't like it hot.

Replaced it with a Samsung too (840 PRO). Has been working fine.

IPU got it to where it's visible on his PC but can't access shit on it. We got it to show up in the BIOS on my PC the next day but no access there either.
chokonen888 wrote:I tried reinstalling/formatting it with the win8 install on USB but it just wouldn't even find the drive. Well...maybe IPU can use it if we can zombie it. It gets far less hot in his room and he's already got OS splits and shit on his PC.
chokonen888 wrote:That's if there is any updated firmware...quick search I did last night yielded nothing
