Hey, Taro, if I remember correctly, you have a US death certificate. Just curious.. have you ever stopped by the local government office with a Japanese translation & tried to get a domestic one so you can be dead here, too? And are there benefits to being dead here?

There's a nice funeral benefit of 500,000 yen in my ward, but then my FREE bus/train pass would be cancelled. :?

In med school and grad school, I used to get in some real knock-down-drag-out arguements with the life-after-death folks, hee, hee.

Thirty ODD years ago, I was in a braindead coma* and they pulled off life support according to my Living Will. That unplugging woke me up and one of the nurses (and post-life GF) saved the death certificate for me as a "souvenir".

*Besides my salaryman life
