I know that I'm going to be called a "racist" for asking such a question because in this PC world you can't even ponder a question like that without being called a "racist". You can call me what you like but I think this is a legitimate question.

[b] You are a Japanese Ozeki, and the only Yokozuna is the widely despised Asashoryu: Win one tournament, and scrape by with sum of at least 25 wins over the current and previous tournaments, and they'll put you in as a Japanese Yokozuna.

I'm sure he doesn't have as good a vision as you have but how is that relevent or reflect on him, or Asians in general?
The expulsion may be closer than you think. Although my wife thinks he's just making mistakes, I think he's intentionally thumbing his nose at conservative Japan. It's like, "none of your boys can beat me, so you'll to find some other way to get rid of me."ramchop wrote:cstaylor wrote:To make Yokozuna, you need to be Ozeki level and have one of two things happen:

So it could be another year until they get a second Yokozuna... unless of course they expel the Mongolian and so make it easier for the Japanese to win.

Every morning when I wake up I like to lay there for a bit and think of how my day will go, but whenever I have the special school now I just give up. After all, there's not really any point when it somehow manages to consistently throw me curveballs by landing me in situations that no one in their right mind could ever reasonably anticipate. But I guess I'm used to it now, as these days I barely blink an eye as I rationalize the situation away in the time it takes to think one simple sentence like [i]Okay, I am now going to climb into a sumo suit and wrestle retarded people]

This is pure political bullshit. You may not know that french president Chirac is a big fan of japanese arts and culture.
Interior Minister Sarkozy is just mocking President Chirac by saying this because he wants to take part to the next polls in France.
There was another french Premier Ministre Edith Cresson who said japanese people were just ants.
Unfortunately lots of french people are stupid when it comes to undertanding other countries people or lifestyle...
yours,

The sumo association knew he was a hothead before they promoted him. Those codes are applied before you give someone a promotion.the fact is that there are codes in Sumo(as in other japanese sports, probably). It may differ from 'our' way of thinking, but then we are not Japanese, are we?
cstaylor wrote:I think this tournament showed that Asashoryu is capable of beating the Ozeki (when he made his fast-track promotion to Yokozuna, most of the Ozeki were injured, so he got a free pass when it came to winning two tournaments in a row), but I think the way he became champion without facing the other wrestlers will haunt him for a while.
Chiyotaikai and Tochiazuma are too flawed as wrestlers to make Yokozuna (no matter how much the crowds want a replacement for Takanohana). Chiyotaikai has no other move besides tsupari (push push!), and Tochiazuma is not strong enough to make up for his lack of speed.kamome wrote:cstaylor wrote:I think this tournament showed that Asashoryu is capable of beating the Ozeki (when he made his fast-track promotion to Yokozuna, most of the Ozeki were injured, so he got a free pass when it came to winning two tournaments in a row), but I think the way he became champion without facing the other wrestlers will haunt him for a while.
I saw Asashoryu beat Chiyotaikai at the tournament on Saturday. Asashoryu looked good beating the "Great White Hope" of Japanese sumo.
