South Park - Anime Style!

Postby Caustic Saint » Thu Mar 18, 2004 11:25 pm

The new season of South Park is off to quite a start:

Image

In this week's episode, entitled "Good Times With Weapons," the boys are transformed into Japanese Warriors after they buy Martial Arts Weapons at a local flea market. In full ninja mode, the boys take on their sworn enemy, Professor Chaos, in a highly-stylized action sequence.

And still to come in the 8th season:

Cartman continues to terrorize Butters by pretending to be his new best friend and he joins Jimmy in competing in the Special Olympics. Finally, Lemmiwinks makes his triumphant return to South Park.

Schweet! :D

Hehe, I wanted to see that episode when I saw the commercial for it...

I hope I didn't miss my chance to see it... arg.. probably.

"If we each bought a weapon... we could be like ninjas!"

"I can see in the future, but better than Kyle"

"Cartman, stop making up new powers!"

Can anybody translate the song from the big ninja fight sequence? Here are the screen caps of the lyric subtitles:

Hah! That's awesome!

Thanks, Dev.

Trey Parker sings it and it sounds pretty funny, even if you don't know what he's saying.

Comedy Centrals replays everything into oblivion, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Really funny episode, athough the political commentary at teh end was way more forced than it usually is in SP... seemed very out of place. I think South Park is more funny than it was when it first started, just seems to be getting better and better. Can't say the same for the Simpsons... :?

Here's a less mechanical, more lyrical translation of that song:

I've got a wonderful penis
and hair on my balls
That sound is "sarubobo"
No! It's a ninja.
Hey Hey Let's Go! We will fight
The important thing, protect my balls!
I'm bad, so let's fighting
Let's fighting love...

Lol! I find that terribly ironic, considering the Chinpokomon episode and the Ladder to Heaven episode.

Almost never. After he was dead (and gone) for most of the sixth season, they brought him back. They don't kill him every episode, instead doing it very rarely as an unexpected treat. He did get killed at the end of the final episode of the last season.

Translation +

Postby Jenshin » Sat Mar 20, 2004 1:48 pm

Did anyone catch the parts of the song that followed the subtited parts?
Because of his singing in that part it was hard to catch what he was saying, but I caugt "Its ok! (daijoubu desu yo) and I dont understand the meaning (wake ga wakaranai). Did any of you catch the rest of that? Also, has anyone found an mp3 version yet? ^-^ :P

from south park scriptorium:

Postby Gobolatula » Sat Mar 20, 2004 6:46 pm

Subarashii chinchin mono
Kintama no kame aru
Sore no oto ha sarubobo
Iie! Ninja ga imasu
Hey hey let's go kenka suru
Taisetsu no mono protect my balls!
Boku ga warui so let's fighting...
Let's fighting love!
Let's fighting love!

Kono uta chotto baka
Wake ga wakaranai
Eigo ga mechakucha
Daijobu? We do it all the time!

Hey hey let's go kenka suru...

translates to:

This wonderful penis thing
And hair of testicles are here.
Is that the sound of a sarubobo?
No! It's the ninjas!
Hey hey let's go fight!
This is important: protect my balls!
I am evil, so let's fighting...
Let's fighting love!
Let's fighting love!

This song is a little stupid
It doesn't make sense
Its English is fucked up
Is that OK? We do it all the time!

Hey hey let's go fight...

The Japanese writing system is broken down into three separate, complete, and insane, parts: Hiragana ("those squiggily letters"), Katakana ("those boxy letters") and Kanji ("roughly 4 million embodiments of your worst nightmares").

You can't understand Japanese from the left side of your brain only.

It makes perfect sense to a Japanese to use the kanji for ke to mean hair, I don't know first hand that they sang kami and used ke but it wouldn't matter to them, they don't think about it like an adult learner of japanese might. After awhile a pattern to kanji DOES emerge and it all makes a sort of sense.
