WTF?? FG Alert!!!

Postby GomiGirl » Wed Apr 21, 2004 8:46 pm

Have just had the wierdest experience..

Was on the Yamanote line and talking (quietly) in English to another FG and showing him something neat on my keitai.. a site, Tabemo, to which I was introduced the other day.

There we were, standing in the aisle of a fairly crowded train where there were many other people also quietly chatting, and a very strange woman, who was standing behind me with her back facing my back, starting speaking loudly in English..

"This is Japan, you should be speaking in Japanese!!!"

Taken somewhat aback, I turned around and she repeated herself to no-body in particular as she hadn't bothered to turn around. I asked the back of her head quietly in Japanese, "Excuse me. What is the problem?"

She refused to talk directly to me, but then started saying something about a political national party (missed the name) and then there was lots of "Tut, tutting". Again I asked her what her the nature of her outburst, and she again refused to look at me or reply to my rather polite inquiry.

Then it was obvious that this xenophobe had a few kangaroos loose in the top paddock, so my friend and I turned back to our conversation with a few nervous, "Right then, well, as I was saying..."

I looked around at a few of the other passengers who rolled their eyes and smiled sympathetically at us so we were not the only ones who thought her a tad loopy.

Somebody a few people away started to snicker..

This wierdo started up again with "Tut Tut"s and "Go ahead, laugh..."

WTF??? 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O

What is one supposed to do in such situations???

I had a 10 year Japanese girl run up to me walking home alone in the park and start in yowling in English about, " "This is Japan, you should be speaking in Japanese."

I gave her my best, Nandaroooooooo.Image

So then she contined bitching to me in Japanese.

Rest-of-the-Story: It turns out she's Chinese-German and is forced to translate day and night for her parents ... EVEN on her keitai at school. She getting picked on about that and I happen to look a lot like her father.

Bottom Line: There's always a Rest-of-the-Story.

8O Ok, I personally am willing to pay more in taxes if the government will include mental health care visits as part of national health care.

If you're not in danger of serious physical danger, it's sometimes fun to torment these lost souls. For example, you could have leaned over to her and said with a smile, "make me!", then go back to your private conversation.

Otherwise I try to just ignore crazies (and quietly wonder what their FG usernames are  ).

American Spies!!

Postby emperor » Sun Apr 25, 2004 3:11 pm

When first here a few months ago, while at the checkouts shopping in a local supermarket with 3 other Irish FGs... a Crazy Man happened to grace us with an encounter >>

beginning with "Stay Away From Me!!" (first - in a low rumbling voice and building up to a SHOUT - AT THE TOP OF HIS LUNGS)
and moving on to "Go Home!!"
next came the hard hitting accusations "American Spies!!"
and finally he was piecing it all together "Go Home American Spies!! Stay Away From Me!!!"
... by this stage we are walking down the street carrying our shopping while he paces around in the middle of traffic shouting down the street at us as loud as he could with everyone alternating stares between him and us. 8O

the next time I ran into him, about a month later i was alone, but it wasnt a stones throw further than where we had met him last time:
pulled up to a crossing on my bike carrying a dominos pizza as people waited for the light to go bluey-green:
I pull up next to this guy and quickly glance at him and then while glancing in the opposite direction something clicks and i think "oh shit, this guy looks familiar .. but in a bad way"
i turn to look again and at that moment he turns top look at me
his eyes open wide with shock and he suddenly jolts back stepping away from me and the road - he was beginning to walk around behind me and chatter, but just then the lights changed and cycled off to the chanting about "american spies" and the like.

Weve only seen him once since and it was the same deal.

I share no love for the CIA either but my theory is that he didnt enjoy the "Mission Impossible" movies or perhaps "Spy Kids" ... "1 and 2"

Why not pretend to note his details and take his photo with your minature spy-camera next time you see him. This may either cause him to avoid you like the plague or excite him to the point where mother nature will take its course and he'll pop a valve ... or, should I say, pop another valve

"Go Home American Spies!! Stay Away From Me!!!"...

Good advice kurohinge 1 :D

I was in the Oizumigakuen Kaldi Coffe Farm one evening and there was an old guy walking around the rather small mall there in circles. Everytime he got in front of Kaldi he would say in Japanese, "People should only eat Japanese food."

I'll say it again, I am willing to pay higher taxes if mental health care is covered under national health insurance.

OK, Question:
Say a J-salaryman drunk/sober started abusing you on the street or train, just for being a gaijin. Instead of ignoring it like usual, how about saying to yourself 'I'm taxing you for that' and just take his briefcase from him. Would he be too scared to do anything? It could all be pretty easy.

Would the people around do anything at all?

Maybe not....

You could end up with a large collection of briefcases and laptops etc that you don't really need--dump the things you don't need off a boat to build-up an artificial reef for the local fish to breed in or something. :)

I think the whole plan would work better if you carried a mobile phone jammer in your backpack/carrybag too. Slow down localised reaction times a bit..... Hmmm.......

Ok Alcazar.. you are begining to grow on me .. underneath that chambray shirt is the makings of a dry wit.. keep it up.

But anyway back to your question.. as a libertarian, I am for smaller government with lower taxation.. can I just bash him over the head with his briefcase and call it vigilantism?

I`ll keep that in mind for next time!
Maybe keeping some menacing suit-attired gaijin around me with telescopic lense equipped cameras might work too?
I`d love have some footage of me bundling him into the back of a taxi with my finger-gun pointed out through my jacket pocket - he looks like the type that would totally flip out

HAH! Tell that to all the Japanese foreign exchange students in my dorm.

Never hear a word out of them in English, because they rarely talk to us Americans (unless they know your personally) and they basically keep to themselves.

train loons 4.353433

Postby BuddhaRhubarb » Fri Apr 30, 2004 11:33 pm

i had a train loon experience of my own a few months ago. I was riding the short ride home on the express from my school to my stn on the Keio line...

This middle aged Japanese guy in a pink alligator shirt and golf pants, and a bit of a red face... was staring at me...

I had this vibe like i used to get when walking in big cities in North America: "The this guy wants to fight me for some testosterone based reasons all his own vibe". But then thought, "hey this is Japan, I don't have to worry about that shit, I am being paranoid."

So as I get off the train with my co-worker the old guy jumps up behind me and pushes his fist into my back saying "Dame, Dame (nanataka nantaka blah blah) Dame!!... I was shocked but, backed up saying "Gomen Nasai", maybe i had made some inadvertant eye contact, or something, "sumimasen" i said...

then he got in my face...with the "Dames"...

so I said in my best english: "hey Fuck you asshole" and walked away... getting a bit pissed,at his grousing at me as i left... I gave him the finger as i left for the turnstile... The dude follows after me and my friend, but more smiley now, he jumps through without paying, and my co-worker who's Japanese is much better than mine is saying "daijobu daijobu", but I can see ready to back me up...

I just walk quickly up the street... the old guy lights my co-worker's smoke and says to him in English: "I'll call you sometime..." Not that he had anyone's number.
Then the dude sneaks off into the bushes.

I just bought a guitar today. After leaving the shop, a guy started following me.

He kept saying `ore no guita`. I ignored him for a few blocks... then turned to talk to him. He was a pretty interesting dude. He said he used to play in `The Tigers`. Apparantly they were a pretty famous group in the 60`s/70`s...

Maybe he was telling the truth, too...

(except about the guitar... it`s never been played)

wrong category? maybe?

..but last night i was on my way home on the metro, as i was sending an email from my keitai:
a highschool girl wearing half her uniform (maybe about 15 years old?) walks up to the end of the carraige wearing only her knickers and carrying her skirt - she stops at the top of the carriage to put on the skirt...nobody bats an eyelid 8O

my guess was one or more chikan/pervs (then again she could have been a flasher?) - but nobody seemed shocked at all!!

have you ever seen such a thing?
