It rubs both ways. Mao abused the situation of an aggressive outside power to consolidate his gains in northern China. The idea that the China militia (as it wasn't trained enough to be treated as an army), united behind the Communists and the Nationalists, could have defeated the Japanese Imperial Army is a joke. Neither the Communists nor the Nationalists had suitable medical facilities for their troops, so the foot soldiers were the most expendable parts in their war machines. When soliders know that they won't be evacuated and treated for wounds, they don't take the risks needed to establish footholds against an enemy position.devicenull wrote:Kai-Shek was an asshole backstabber who couldnt deal with the loss of power after he decided to try to eliminate the CPC from the government. civil war led to japanese being able to defeat china pretty easily.
The size of China defeated the Japanese, just like the size of Russia defeated the Nazis and Napolean's army.
