It's damn hard to teach a kid any better without a teacher.

for me?

Postby krimebot » Wed Sep 15, 2004 2:41 pm

Deltaco,
Was that for me??? :?

If so, you don't really know me...
I'm not going to flame you or anything, but I married (several years ago) into a Japanese family of teachers... father, mother, brother, sister x 2.... we spend hours, and hours talking about Japanese students, mainly problem students and what to do with them... how Japan and the US differs... I am pretty familiar with the Japanese views.

In conclusion, it's their Japan, not mine, and not yours; with that in mind I would say "It's damn hard to teach a kid any better without a teacher."

You seem to be painting all the kids at BB's school as "little shitheads." What makes you so certain they are?

As a highschool student myself (admittedly not at a Japanese school, but I believe some things are the same the world over) I can attest to the fact that most teenagers of high school age are in fact little shit heads. Many of my peers, and probably myself as well, have done heinous things to those who just want to give us a good education, and could do with a good ass kicking.

That's because you're probably bored. My high school was difficult enough that there wasn't time to be pissing off teachers. Of course, I'm not counting the last semester of senior year...

Look get this in your fucking heads. Harder or easier with these fucking gorilla kids it doesn't matter. You give 'em a print and they don't even look at it. They crump it up in a ball. They won't even open their books. Sometimes it's true that kids act out because of boredom but those kids are totally easy to get a handle on. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to adjust the difficulty levels a bit. I'm talking about serious discipline cases. I'm talking about kids who intentionally fuck up every lesson just to be dickheads. Those of you with no experience with really difficult kids need to STFU cause you don't know WTF you're talking about. This shit like have them tidy up the room or make the course work more challenging...it's like really? I guess a teacher who spends five hours a day trapped in a room with these little fucks never thought of that shit. Fucking brilliant, write a Goddamn Ph.D dissertation yall really got some smart shit that could save the day. Really!

Well, the boneheads got weeded out of my high school pretty quick... the area was a nicer one, so the parents were pretty hands-on with the education, so I was fortunate in that way.

AssKissinger wrote:Those of you with no experience with really difficult kids need to STFU cause you don't know WTF you're talking about.
Yeah, I'm guilty there. Never taught anyone anything in my life, and I don't think I'll be starting anytime soon.

Nah, someone has to work McDonald's, pick up my trash, clean my driveway, etc... might as well be the kids you're teaching.

Quit being such whimps

Postby Mini_B » Wed Sep 15, 2004 6:01 pm

Kids need to be smacked - bottom line. Where do you get off, Mr. Booger, after only a month at that school, deciding who gets smacked and why? If that kid has a problem with it I'm sure he'll tell his daddy or mommy and they'll take action.

What really makes me sick is the fact that someone in this thread said that they would SUE. Give me a break. That's the last thing a kid needs to learn...and is much worse than a little kick in the ass.

That's the ticket. Mini_B just changed the education laws of Japan. ;)

I get off because I think preserving the law is the correct thing to do. I get off because you don't know these kids, and you certainly didn't witness what went on.

If you want to smack your own children, do it. But to smack some kids because they don't perform to your standards is just small...

Discipline in Japanese education needs serious reform. I don't agree with the fact that every kid must be educated and to remove a disturbed student from the classroom denies that kid an education.

I think troubled kids should be separated and given a harsher environment, like an ISS (in school suspension) room, or something to that effect.

I also think that kids should be failed if they do not make at least a 60% in all subjects. Here, it's like 50% and they have to fail at least 2 subjects and then they still have a chance to retake the tests at the end of the year... what a load of sheet...

Teachers should not be responsible for discipline IMHO. How can you teach a student who you just yelled at? I doubt it is possible to reach them after an incident.

They should be sent to the administration or at least to a discipline team who are in charge of that. And the behavior should be modified by them instead of directly by the teacher. That way when a kid is acting up, he or she can be sent out of the room and dealt with without direct teacher aggression.

Of course classroom control should still be the responsibility of the teacher. I am just talking about those kids who break shit, throw things, don't listen, disturb the lesson, or continually fail to comply.

 That's true. When we did the lesson ordering in a fast food restuarant they took turns being the clerk and I told them you should really learn this cause it'll come in useful when you're 40 and a gaijin walks into Mac.

That's what I'm talking about, too. BB, I hope you're not to pissed at my earlier posts to rule out my discourse. I totally agree with everything you're talking about. We need to get some of this stuff implemented in Japan! Awesome grade-a post, dude.

He says all that now.. until he tips off the wrong people and he's homeless sucking cocks for rocks :D without a toliet to piss in, nor anyone to listen to his hot air. :D

I bet in his teacher's room, he's as quiet as a mouse. Peep peep.. :D He gaman suru's all the f'in time, never says much of anything. The only way he could get away with all that wing wang, is his staff can't speak nor understand English, which is quite possible. They probably just ignore him gently like, but act like they are paying attention to him. When he leaves at 4:00, they say thank god. And talk bad about him amongst themselves.

He never notices them laughing and he certainly doesn't know the nickname they've given him and use around him to hide what they are saying LMAO. He's like that handmade statue your grandmother gave you last year for Christmas, you see it, but you try hard not to give it much attention.

No no. They don't have to ignore me cause I don't ever say anything. You're right the first time. peep peep. About the only thing I say all day is 'Here's my next lesson plan. Thank-you very much. If there's any problem let me know. I'll be happy to make any changes at your request.' For real, that's how it is everyday. I never once said one single rude word to any of the staff there ever. Nor would I. Nor do I question anything. I save all my BULLSHIT for you guys.

AK, what with the l___r thing and the r____g thing and the c___d-hating thing, you play the devils advocacy role well. Unfortunately, my poor intuition and accompanying feeble grasp of reality leaves me struggling to discern what the real you actually believes. I suspect you're just bored and enjoy arguing a side, knowing the agitation you'll arouse.

Faded was of course right. The parents. Tell them. It's their responsi-fucking-bility. "Oh, but they won't do anything." Well, fuck, you've got to fucking try. If one of you rang and said "You're daughter spat in my face" I'd say "Please don't touch her", hang up, and immediately throw every single one of her toys over the fucking balcony. Let her sleep there for a couple of nights too.

AK, you remember being a teenager? You seem to have become that teacher you hated. Moratorium, pushing the limits to find an identity separate from your parents, developing the ego, seeing what you could get away with? Ring any bells?
