For podcasting and concert recording, the 96kHz "better" quality is good-nough since one's microphone spread is piss poor for stereo recording in the field. Mono recording only is what Apple intended in order to keep the recording industry off its back, so Podzilla based recording allows a person to totally justify the legality of this use.
Saaaa, not that any this will work on my 1st Gen iPod.![]()

Charles wrote:It's pretty obvious the iPod recording capability (which isn't that much different in PodLinux vs. the iMic gadget) is intended for voice recording.
Charles wrote:I can even think of a few interesting scenarios where I would have used stereo as two channel recording. My teachers liked to make classroom tapes to transcribe for their research on student-teacher interaction, but it was always hard to get a good recording with the teacher facing the class, the teacher's voice came from 180 degrees opposite the students. The teacher could wear a lapel mic, put that into one channel, and a wide mic facing the students, put both mics into a little $2 Radio Shack channel splitter.

QUALITY = FUCKEN SPLENDID !
FG Lurker wrote:Recording each side of a conversation into separate channels will drive most people insane on playback. You'd need to mix them after recording anyway. May as well either do it in mono with two mics or get a microphone that records better from multiple directions.
