I like the warmness in the winter!! I'm right beside a window with a nice view, but with the awesome single-pane glass technology here it gets damn cold in the winter!

In the summer though I'm constantly arguing with the accounting manager about the temperature. Every time I turn around she's turning the damn aircon off! Hag. I blew up at her last summer though, really lost it... She doesn't touch the controls for my department anymore!

I think Hong Kong is worse, but in the opposite way. Every office building and restaurant I have been in there is always *WAY* too cold. In the summer they crank the aircons up as much as possible, in the winter they don't seem to bother with heat. By the time I get through an hour meeting I'm turning blue.

Without proper ducting, vents, and always-forgotten cold air returns, Japanese heating and cooling systems are a cruel joke. Even when set correctly, variation in temps are HUGE in all Japanese offices because of the Japanese construction industy's mission to make all Japanese suffer.

As far as Japanese being cold all the time, many Japanese have low blood pressure and low body mass which combines to prone to "chills"...But basically, being "chilled" is a psychosomatic problem for Japanese folks who think the keeping their "hara" warmed is the key to good health, sheesh.

sit in their house and fucking FREEZE!
or they hide under the Kotatsu while the rest of the house(thin-walled concrete bunker with no insulation)is below zero!


The trains are disgusting, you notice even when its not very cold the heat is often cranked right up, the train staff arent allowed to change the temp. from the morning...so if its chilly AM the heat gets cranked up...by the afternoon with sunlight and 100 people per sq. metre...it like a fucking oven!

I think Christ was actually born in March, but I could be wrong about the month. The reason for choosing December was due to a pagan winter solstice celebration -- celebrating the return of the sun I believe. I don't know if it was Roman or not...

I am Christian, but I have a very difficult time accepting many parts of what Christianity preaches.

Western-style heated rooms are a relatively modern invention, it dates back to Bavarian architecture of the 17th century. They were the first houses to have a central living room with a stove, closed off with doors so the heat wouldn't escape. Some of the Amish houses around here still use that old design, with a pot-bellied stove and everything.

It happens here too and I get so frustrated. I work for a Japanese company in santa clara, THANK GOD I am only in that freakin office twice a week. It is so damn hot that if feels like a furnance..I cannnot concentrate and complain, to no avail. There are two japanese,( by the way, the women are the worst.) and the rest are from India.

I have to also deal with it here with my mom who is Japanese. She is always cold and I am always hot! Not sure why. Maybe something is wrong with me?!?!?!
