Women of Yesterday vs. Modern Women

Postby American Oyaji » Tue May 15, 2007 11:01 pm

I was looking at the pictures from this thread and I thought, not for the first time, that women back then were more pleasing to the eye. Not just more attractive, but also healthier and more wholesome...just more lady-like. I've thought so about American women as well as Japanese women.

What are your thoughts on this? I know women today are wearing less clothing, but it seems that women of yesterday cultivated a spirit of pleasantness that is able to be seen through the lens of a camera that women of today don't have. I'm not saying ALL women. But it seems women have substituted sexiness for character. I think men have done the same, but since I don't look at them, I cannot comment too much.

Where are the TRUE ladies? I'm not talking about women who cower before the potent might of their husbands. That's a misogynistic (sp) fantasy.
I mean women of character and strength, yet are not brash and brazen and dress like whores.

Yes, I know I am old fashioned in some ways, but I do not believe that it is a bad thing. Everything "old" is not always good to throw away.

The differences between old girls and modern girls. Dentistry. Notice how the picture show modestly smiling closed mouthed girls. It ain't a coincidence.

All I know is that they are still out there, but I guess they are harder and harder to find, especially in the cities.
Try trawling the inaka and find yourself a nice oldest-of-four farmer's daughter whose parents aren't completely insane, and spent a small fortune on dentists over the years.

That's what I did. ;)

Those yamato nadeshiko are an endangered species. At least those of breeding age.

Thank God. The last thing I want to worry about while I'm hittin' it is a dekichatta kekkon.
